The Education Funders Affinity Group (EAG) brings together foundations, corporate giving programs, private donors, and United Ways committed to strengthening education across West Virginia and Central Appalachia. Through peer learning, collaboration, and shared leadership, members exchange ideas, explore emerging challenges, identify opportunities for collective impact, and advance effective philanthropic investments in education at every level.

Philanthropy West Virginia actively advocates for effective government policies from Charleston, WV to Washington, DC that advance the vital work of nonprofits and philanthropy. Guided by the principles of building stronger communities and a stronger philanthropic sector, our public policy work focuses on educating policymakers and supporting legislation that incentivizes charitable giving.

The Keep 5 Local initiative supports building lasting community legacies by keeping 5% of today’s multi-billion dollar transfer of wealth in West Virginia for tomorrow’s needs. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to partner with their local community foundations to create permanent, endowed funds. This empowers donors to be part of a private-sector solution for long-term community development, ensuring local nonprofits and regions thrive for generations.

The Spirit of Philanthropy Awards Program celebrates the individuals, organizations, and staff members who contribute their time, talent, and resources to spread the Spirit of Philanthropy across West Virginia.
